Project Progress - Burlington Close

The Journey So Far

At the start of November 2019, we submitted the planning application for the proposed development of 61 self-contained family sized homes, in order to help meet the growing demand for social housing in the borough. A few months later, this proposal was approved in March 2020.

This meant that we could begin working towards providing of 61 homes (eight will be wheelchair accessible) across three blocks that will be environmentally friendly, electric vehicle charging points, 130 secure cycle stores, and a communal garden including a play area. Also, in our work towards our zero-carbon goal, we will incorporate energy efficient technologies including air source heat pumps, solar panels and being all-electric, with no use of gas.

Where Are We Now?

Since January 2021, our partners and developers at Wates Residential have demolished the former sheltered accommodation on the site, which was no longer fit for purpose.

Seven months later on Tuesday August 17th 2021, the leader of the Council, Cllr Steve Curran, visited the site to check on progress and lent a hand in laying down the bricks.
